Our 25 Point Refurbishment Procedure
- Thorough specification check of all components.
- Check laptop for physical damage to chassis, keyboard and drives.
- Check laptop for missing items including Battery, ac adapter, hinge covers, fascias, keys etc.
- Battery tested to ensure consistent power, and that it holds charge.
- Check condition and operation of power supply unit.
- Remove any existing user passwords (Bios and hard disk.)
- Test hard disk drive integrity and datawipe to approved standard.
- Check language and layout of keyboard is UK/US.
- Test that the keyboard functions correctly.
- Check all internal speakers work correctly.
- Check that modem passes diagnostic tests and dials out.
- Inspect the quality of the LCD Panel(Dead Pixels, consistency of colour/contrast, brightness.)
- Check screen contrast/brightness controls function correctly, if applicable.
- Check DVD/CD drive ejects & reads correctly, check quality of sound and video playback.
- Check that the laptop is set to boot from CD (or floppy drive if not available.)
- Check that OS can be installed correctly with all drivers, reset to factory default installation.
- Check port replicators, track stick/pads.
- Check that all component catches/locks work correctly eg. Screen, drives, battery.
- Check PCMCIA slots function correctly.
- Check all status lights function correctly.
- Clean Laptop thoroughly to required standard.
- Visual inspection to determine laptop grade.
- Ensure CD media and all laptop documents are present.
- Repackage ensuring that packaging is in adequate condition, replace where necessary.
- Affix new part code label which also identifies laptop grading and engineer`s personal Q/C label.
