Question from ged: Asked on 25/08/2008 I have a advent 7037 laptop and could not connect wirelessly to the Thomson ST585 router, so I bought a Netgear wireless WG11 USB 2.0 adapter for the laptop but still can't connect. I'm using AOL on a BT line. Can you help please? Would i need a Netgear router? I have a desktop pc and thats working fine.

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 26/08/2008
Do you have a wireless router? If not then you would need one to connect the laptop to the internet. If you have, then it maybe a fault with the laptop or the adapter.

Question from Darcy: Asked on 18/08/2008 Whats the difference between ADSL and DSL if any?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 19/08/2008
DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line, which is a term that covers a lot of services, including ADSL. The A in ADSL stands for Asymmetric - This means the upload speed is slower than the download speed (they are not symmetrical). Most if not all phoneline-based broadband in the UK is ADSL, as the upload speeds are considerably slower than the download speeds.

Question from fm: Asked on 18/08/2008 You say connect to a BT line. Is this router compatible with all irish broadband providers?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 18/08/2008
There are two kinds of router out there at the moment. Cable (Virgin) and ADSL (phone line, such as BT, SKY, Tiscali)
If you have a normal phone line then that router will work for you.

Question from Confused: Asked on 06/08/2008 Is this router Vista compatible?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 07/08/2008
Routers run independantly of PCs. So, it doesn't matter what operating system you use.

Question from SJ: Asked on 30/07/2008 Hi, I have a speedtouch USB ADSL PPP modem with Tiscali Broadband. How would I set up one of these routers so that I can connect to the internet (wireless) with my laptop?? Some people have said you can't do it as the modem is connected via a USB to the actual tower of the PC. I am really confused, Help, thanks

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 31/07/2008
This has an integrated modem so you would put the same settings into this as you put into the speedtouch and plug it straight into the phone socket. You will then no longer need to use the speedtouch modem.

Question from Andy: Asked on 29/11/2007 I have a DSL connection with Tiscali at the moment and have the little USB modem, Will this product replace the modem straight off or will the modem plug into this?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 29/11/2007
Unfortunately not, as routers work with ethernet connections and the modem you specificy is USB (Im presuming the little blue Sagem one?). Therefore you will need a modem router which will replace your existing modem then allow you to share the connection. Have a look at product code DG834PN.

Question from kevin: Asked on 05/11/2007 does this product come with a wireless adapter for my desk-top pc

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 05/11/2007
No it doesn't however we do sell both internal wireless network cards and USB wireless network adapters. However if your PC already has a network card then it can be connected through an Ethernet connection.
