The 5742 is the newer of the 2 models yes. It does have similar specification to that of the 5741 with the odd additional feature.

There is only one differance the LX.PSV02.159 has a Intel i3-350M (2.26GHz/3MB) where as the other has a Core i3-330M (2.13GHz/3MB).

After seeing your message I have gone straight on to our website and looked at the images and it clearly isn't black other than the keyboard and surround to the screen.

It is more grey than silver. If you click on images it will bring up different views and larger images that should make things clearer for you.
