Sell Us Your Laptop: Terms & Conditions

Subject to the following terms and conditions, customers will be eligible to receive cashback for the sale of their old laptop.

This promotion is open to residents of the UK only.

In order to qualify for the promotion, your laptop must:

  • All valuations are based upon the laptop(s) being manufactured no later than (10th generation CPU’s). Any devices received outside of this criteria will be revalued or rejected based upon their functionality and general condition.
  • All windows laptops must come with a Microsoft Windows COA license (this is something that our engineers will confirm upon inspection).
  • Have a screen size of 12" or greater (excluding Apple products, please be aware netbooks are not valid).

  • All laptops received should have a UK keyboard.

Products must be received within 14 days after the completion of the web form. If items are not received within the 14 days, the original valuation is nullified and our offer is no longer valid. All quotes via the website are estimates only. A final offer will not be made until our technical team have inspected your laptop (7 days after receipt). Quotes for your laptop are based on your laptop meeting the relevant grading criteria selected.

Please make sure that your laptop is packaged adequately and the box secured. If it arrives damaged or does not arrive at all we cannot accept responsibility.

We cannot accept responsibility for any accessories included with your laptop. Any accessories we receive will be disposed of responsibly upon receipt. This includes bags, cables and external components. If your estimate is updated and you decide to cancel your trade-in, we cannot guarantee the return of any accessories. 

Once we have received your laptop, an engineer will evaluate it for damage and any non-functional parts. Engineers will evaluate if the laptop is worth the original valuation. Should a laptop fall outside the stated conditions we will send a revised offer by email with an option to either accept or decline. If the revised offer is declined, we will gladly return laptop in the condition it was received for free.

From the date an offer is sent, you have 14 days to accept or decline the proposed valuation. If we have not received a reply within this time the offer will be taken as accepted and processed at the revised price for payment, or disposal of the laptop including the destruction of all data held on the machine.

If the laptop is in the required condition (or following an accepted revised offer) we will process your payment, which will be sent via the chosen payment method.

If a cheque is chosen as the preferred payment method this will be sent within 14 days of a validated offer. Please allow an additional 5 days for possible postage delays. All cheques will be made payable to the customer only. Cheques will be sent within 14 days of a validated offer however please allow an additional 5 days for possible postage delays. All cheques will be made payable to the person detailed on the original form and sent to the address given.

Bacs payments will be paid to the person detailed on the original form and will be completed with seven days of acceptance of the final offer.

PayPal payments will be paid to the person detailed on the original form and will be completed with seven days of acceptance of the final offer.

Confidential Data

Unfortunately we cannot accept any responsibility for the security, protection, confidentiality or use of any data. Please note we are unable to retrieve any customer data once the product has been received. We comply with strict data protection legislation concerning the recycling of data bearing devices and have processes that ensure we either destroy or use effective data wiping software to securely delete data.

‘Full Working Order’ Defined

For your laptop to qualify as 'working', it must be fully functional. Definition of a working computer for the promotion is as follows:

  • The machine powers up
  • The display works
  • The laptop does not have a BIOS password
  • The keyboard and track pad work
  • The hard drive or solid state memory is functional
  • The CPU and RAM work
  • The optical drive (if present) works
  • The motherboard is fully operational & any ancillary functions consistent with the model of the laptop work. For example - USB ports, VGA or other monitor connections, modem port, Ethernet port, HDMI port, PCMCIA slots and cards, built in memory card reader slot, sound card and biometric functions.
  • The laptop has a complete UK Qwerty keyboard
  • General wear & tear (scratches, marks) are acceptable

Laptop Condition Defined

Good

  • Laptop should be fully functional.
  • No noticeable scratches on the laptop.
  • Laptop must include a working power supply.

Average

  • Laptop should be fully functional.
  • Shows signs of previous use (small scratches/wear to the chassis, and signs of wear to the keyboard and trackpad).
  • Laptop must include a working power supply.

Poor

  • The laptop still functions, but shows signs of considerable cosmetic wear and minor damage to the chassis.
  • The screen should not have any dents, holes or other damages that interfere with it working.
  • The laptop should hold a minimum of twenty minutes charge, when not plugged in to the mains.

Faulty

Faulty machines will not qualify for a cash valuation within our trade-in scheme. However, we can data wipe your machine and recycle it. (Please be aware the laptops hard drive must be in full working order and have no faulty sectors in order to be data wiped, any machines received with faulty hard drives will be destroyed).

Laptops will be considered as faulty if any of the following issues are found:

  • A smashed screen or heavy bleed on the screen.
  • A faulty hard drive.
  • Missing keys from the keyboard.
  • Holes or considerable damage to the chassis or screen.
  • The laptop will not hold charge for at least twenty minutes when not plugged in to the mains.
