You connect to the Internet where there is wireless hotspots or you could buy 3G dongal so you can get on the internet anywhere there is a mobile phone reception (see o2 or Vodafone).

If want the functionality of a dvd drive then yes you'll need to buy this separately. The prices differ but if you goto storage on the left hand menu you'll find them listed there.
